Corporate health case study: Nutrition support for surgery recovery, weight management & immune health

I honestly must have told about 100 people at work how amazing you were. I know 2 have also referred on the back of it. I had always struggled with my diet. No matter what I did though nothing ever changed. Even with extreme dieting or the cutting out of meat, dairy etc. My first meeting with Ellie inspired me as was not as I expected which is usually a list of ‘what I need to do and go do it your self’. It was more an understanding of where I was at, what my key issues were and what the objective was but all super friendly and a very easy meeting of discovery. What we did then is treat each session as it was with small but impactful changes so we could monitor the differences between each session.

Within a few months I was at my lightest, leanest and looked the best I had in ten years. The best bit is I was coming up for extensive shoulder surgery and with all my dietary changes and supplements additions (simple things such as Omega 3, B12 etc.) I am convinced I recovered a lot faster as I was signed off from my Surgeon and Physio a few months early. Overall I would rate Ellie 10/10 and I am a massive advocate, especially as I explored lots of advice, advisories and even DNA Tests before. I have learnt loads, my body has changed, my physical state has changed and I have managed to keep it up. Thank you 😀

Referral for nutrition support

  • Self-referred after experiencing Covid and subsequently suffering with long-Covid.
  • Had not felt right since having Covid; low energy, gained weight, poor immune system & digestive complaints.
  • Had shoulder surgery coming up and wanted to make sure he recovered as quickly as possible as he was training for an Iron Man later that year.  
  • Felt ‘addicted to junk food’; busy job so didn’t have time to stop for lunch – was used to quickly heating up a ready meal.
  • Was spending £100 a month on supplements but not seeing any benefit.

HCML support

  • HCML made contact 2 days after self-referral to conduct an initial assessment.
  • Immediately tweaked supplements and removed those that were not required, saving the client money.
  • Started to change up diet ratios, which did not require the client to eat less, but instead changed the ratio of protein, carbohydrates and fats being consumed.
  • Built a strong working relationship with the client to understand their work and social situation to ensure the dietary changes fitted around their lifestyle.

Outcomes

2 Week Follow Up

The client already noticed they had more energy throughout the day and was no longer feeling the need for an afternoon nap. They felt more alert, focused, and had increased concentration. They even noticed an improvement in mood. 

2 Months

The client lost 5kg, which meant he was at the lowest weight he been in his adult life. He was also performing athletically at his best in his iron man training. 

3 Months

The client’s immune system was stronger, with no colds since receiving nutrition support. They had also noticed a huge improvement in an ongoing skin condition.

4 Months

After shoulder surgery, the client was discharged by their surgeon 2 months early because of his accelerated recovery, and was back in work after 3 weeks.
