Alex is a qualified GP and continues to practice alongside his role with HCML. He has a broad background in healthcare delivery and policy; including working with and for Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG’s) on service redesign, creation of new services, in particular those requiring Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) inputs. He brings a wealth of experience within the NHS, and deep practical working knowledge of patients, systems and good quality care, whilst also being part of a vibrant development focused part of the NHS. He has been involved in the development and delivery of training, and assessment particularly in the community medical sphere, and enjoys being able to facilitate clinical improvement and personal development of staff. Alex also has wide experience in clinical audit, quality and scrutiny, whilst having an eye for detail, efficiency and innovative solution creation. He has experience with complex case management, and critical thinking as part of several roles from both a provider, and commissioner’s perspective. He also has a background working within medical politics, chairing several national BMA committees, and negotiating contracts and awards at national and international level, on behalf of the medical profession in the UK. This included the production of the standards documents to improve the mobility and leadership skills of medical graduates within the EU.
