For employees who’ve been referred to HCML.
If you’ve been referred to HCML by your employer, we’re here to support you to improve your health and wellbeing. This might be for a specific condition or general health and wellbeing.
We’re here to help you get back to feeling your best. Here’s what you can expect.

Who we are
HCML is an independent provider of occupational rehabilitation, treatment and case management services. We work with employers to address ill health, physical and mental health concerns of employees, support their recovery, and help manage their return to work or enable them to remain in work.
Our qualified case managers have expertise in a range of clinical disciplines, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychology. Combining expertise with empathy, they’re committed to the health and wellbeing of every employee.

What we do
We assess, recommend and help manage workplace modifications and, in some instances, treatment, to help people get back to health and work.
This includes people who:
- have been unable to work through illness or injury
- have sustained an injury at work
- are experiencing musculoskeletal problems such as pain in muscles, bones, joints and tendons, as well as other soft tissues such as ligaments, which affect their ability to work
- are suffering with their mental health and wellbeing.

How we do this
We carry out an assessment with you over the phone, via video or face-to-face, and talk to your employer to understand what existing support can be provided by your employer. We’ll share our recommendations with you and your employer so where applicable, measures can be put in place to support you in your working environment.
What happens next?
We’re here to help you get back to feeling your best. Your employer has referred you to HCML so we can support your health and wellbeing at work.

1. We’ll now assign you a dedicated clinical expert and a member of our team will be in touch within 48 hours to discuss the reason you’ve been referred and arrange an assessment.

2. We’ll complete a detailed assessment with you over the phone, via video or face-to-face. They’ll ask about your work role and responsibilities, the symptoms or difficulties you’re experiencing, how these are impacting you at work, and any interventions you’ve had or are having in relation to your situation.

3. Following the assessment, HCML will liaise with the relevant person within your organisation to discuss how best to support your condition in the workplace, including facilitating a return to work if applicable. This includes any adjustments in working arrangements or adaptations recommended for your role.

4. We’ll share our recommendations and vocational plan with you and your employer so that, where applicable, measures can be put in place to support you in your working environment.

5. You’ll receive advice and guidance from HCML on how to manage your recovery. They’ll also schedule a follow up with you within 4 weeks of your initial assessment.

6. If requested by your employer, we will continue to support you during the implementation of your vocational plan by coordinating relevant adjustments and, in some instances, treatment and liaising with your line manager or HR contact. HCML will regularly monitor and review your progress to ensure you’re on track with your recovery so you can get back to feeling your best.
