HCML Clinical Lead awarded Case Manager / Rehabilitation Employee of the Year

Oct 27, 2021

HCML Children’s Service Clinical Lead Bob Butler has won the Insurance Post Claims Award for Case Manager / Rehabilitation Employee of the Year 2021.

The Children’s Specialist Rehabilitation Case Manager has been recognised for achieving outstanding outcomes for his rehabilitation clients.

The annual awards celebrate success in claims and rehabilitation. Bob’s expertise and in-depth understanding of the rehabilitation landscape has enabled him to overcome numerous barriers to secure specialist rehabilitations services that his rehab clients and their families would otherwise not have had access to.

With over 30 years’ experience in paediatric acquired brain injury (ABI), Bob has changed the landscape of children’s ABI rehabilitation. In 1990 he set up the UK’s first pioneering children’s ABI rehabilitation service at The Children’s Trust Tadworth (TCT), which remains the only specialist NHS England funded, national rehab centre for children.

It’s this innovative and proactive attitude and passion, combined with the ability to orchestrate collaboration between services that enables Bob to secure the best possible rehabilitation for children and families affected by catastrophic injury under extremely challenging circumstances.

Reflecting on working with Bob, Sue Peters, Independent Advocate / Statutory Care Advisor at Housing & Case Management Services Ltd said, “I have worked with Bob on several cases and have been impressed by his integrity, professionalism and determination to ensure his client is at the heart of all discussions. His experience and knowledge, along with his willingness to explore creative solutions has enabled strong working partnerships for the benefit of his clients.

Bob acknowledges the expertise of other professionals and draws together a team around the client to optimise outcomes.

His calm manner instils confidence and empowers his clients and their families to make choices/decisions knowing they are supported.”

As a Clinical Lead for HCML, Bob is currently growing a specialist team of children’s rehabilitation case managers, continuing to ensure exceptional outcomes for the children and their families are the focus.
